NCC CADETS VISIT MALDIVES UNDER YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME AMONG SAARC COUNTRIES

Under the Youth Exchange Programme among SAARC countries a six member team departed to Maldives in the early hours of 26 December 2023.On the invitation extended by the Maldives National Cadet Corps, two NCC Officers (one gent and one lady) and 04 Cadets (two boys and two girls) were selected on merit basis in interviews and tests done by two boards appointed by the Director NCC.The NCC is thankful to the Hon President, State Minister of Defence and Secretary Defence for giving this important opportunity to NCC.NCC Cadets of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal will also attend this programme on the invitation extended by the Maldives National Cadet Corps in which our delegates have the rare chance of mingling with officers and cadets of other SAARC countries gaining an unprecedented experience and exposure to international events.The Maldives which is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean is rich with some renowned tourist destinations due to its maritime beauty.During the 10 day visit, representatives of NCC Sri Lanka are scheduled to visit a number of high profiles in the Maldives such as the President of Maldives, Minister of Defence, Minister of Education, Chief of Defence Forces, Commissioner of Police and Director General of the Maldives National Cadet Corps. They will also visit several historically important places including Gorifushi Training Centre, Sultan Park and the museum.Marking the end of the programme for 2023, after attending a dinner hosted by the Director General of Maldives National Cadet Corps on 03 January 2023, Sri Lankan delegation is scheduled to return on 04 January 2024.
