Director National Cadet Corps Brig GS Fonseka USP psc started an inspection tour to battalions in North and North Central Provinces, on 15 June 2023.First he visited the 22nd Battalion, Vavuniya, in the morning hours of the day and 34th Battalion in the afternoon.The Director was accompanied by the Provincial Deputy Director, North and North Central Provinces, Col Udaya Munasinghe. Two Commanding Officers of these battalions warmly received and welcomed the Director NCC to their respective battalions and introduced the officers and Permanent Staff Instructors to Director.Before starting the formal discussion the Director planted a dewadara sapling at 22nd Battalion and a coconut sapling at 34th Battalion marking his visit and went on an inspection tour in the camp premises. After a brief refreshment the conference was started and after the presentation on training, admin and logistic matters of the battalion, presented by each Commanding Officer, the Director NCC addressed the Officers, Principals, Master in Charge teachers, Permanent Staff Instructors and Non-Commissioned Officers.The Director emphasized the present progress of the NCC and the way forward plan which is designed under the guidance of the State Minister of Defence, Secretary Defence and Senior Officers of the Ministry of Defence and the National Cadet Corps.Having submitted several issues in training, admin and logistic matters to Director NCC by Officers, Permanent Staff Instructors and Cadets, the Director gave quick solutions and adviced relevant officers to take prompt actions.He appealed all who were present at the occasion, to perform duties to the best of their abilities and help groom future leaders and good citizens to motherland and nation.
