Cadets of the 13th battalion, Matale accorded a Guard of Honour with the Colour Squad of NCC to Hon President Ranil Wickramesinghe at St. Thomas’ College, Matale when the Hon President graced as the Chief Guest of the 150th Anniversary Celebrations held on 13 August 2023.This colourful celebration was organized by the Principal, Staff and the Past Pupils of the college. Minister of Education Hon Susil Premajayantha, Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva and several other VIPs were present at this historical event which goes to the records of the college as well as the 13th battalion, Matale.This Guard of Honour was accorded by the Defence and Police Cadet Platoons of St. Thomas’ College and Wijayapala Maha Vidyalaya and the Western Cadet Band of St. Thomas’ College, Matale.This Guard of Honour was commanded by Maj PGUK Jayaweera and the Second-in-Command was Lt RSSA Senanayake.Director, NCC, Provincial Deputy Director, Central Province and the Commanding Officer of the 13th battalion represented the National Cadet Corps at this memorable event.
